Texans and Toxin Get Publicity

I do a blog at CBS Sportsline. I started off with just random postings on different sports topics but then, this past week, decided to focus on giving the Texans a blog report. Many other teams had someone doing that and the Texan fan whom had been... MORE »
I began watching professional football at the age of 9 and began my life as a Dallas Cowboys fan. Roger Staubach and Tom Landry were the two guys I really idolized. In fact, I even wanted to join the Navy due to the influence of Captain Comeback.
I also rooted for the Houston Oilers as I stuck with both of the Texas teams. However, I did hate the Oilers that one year after they fired Bum Phillips. But I mostly stuck with my Texas teams, especially after entering the Army in 1985.
When Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys in 1989 and dismissed Landry in one of the crudest most disrespectful ways possible, the Cowboys were off my list of teams to root for. I still respect some of the players they had during that era, but the inclusion of such self-centered players as Deion Sanders and T.O., there is no way I will ever root for that team as long as Jerry Jones is their owner.
Then, when the Oilers left, I migrated to rooting for the Saints until the Texans came along.
The Texans have been my team since day one and, though I have never attended a game of theirs (I work every Sunday and Monday night), I have listened to them on the radio or watched them on television every game. Good or bad.
I even blog about the Texans on CBSSportsline.
I'm one of the few Texan fans left that still hopes David Carr can end up having a decent career. He tried. He was just stuck in a very difficult spot that very very very few quarterbacks ever would have succeeded in. Appreciate the fact that he took a pounding getting this franchise off the ground, if nothing else.
As a Texan fan, of course I have spent many hours listening to Sports Radio 610 and hope to one day be at Reliant Stadium to see the Texans play. Hopefully that game will be a victory over the Colts.
